Kelly graduated from Piedmont College with a BS in Mathematics and a MAT in Secondary Mathematics Education.  She is the instructional supervisor for the Mathematics Department and has been an instructor with Aventa since 2008.  She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and being outdoors.  Kelly enjoys working with the great staff at Aventa.

Kimberly Taylor profile photo

Kimberly graduated from Mount Holyoke College with a double major in German Studies and Economics. She later attended Montana State University – Bozeman to earn her teaching certificate as well as an additional BA in German with a minor in Spanish.  She has worked for Aventa for over 5 years, teaching German and Spanish online before taking on her supervisory role. She is passionate about making languages available to all students, regardless of location or circumstance and loves working with students and schools across the country. She also enjoys spending time outdoors, especially hiking in Yellowstone Park and the surrounding area.

Laurene Transue profile photo

Laurene Transue

Instructional Supervisor, Social Studies


Laurene graduated from East Stroudsburg University with a BS in Secondary Education and certification in Social Studies.  She attended Wilkes University where she attained her two Masters Degrees; Classroom Technology and Instructional Technology.  She is the Social Studies Instructional Supervisor at Aventa.  Laurene is active in championing the rights of juveniles in Pennsylvania.  She has worked with at-risk adolescents as a caseworker and teacher for over 20 years.  Laurene works closely with the Juvenile Law Center of Philadelphia to continue to expose the Judicial Scandal in Luzerne County Pennsylvania.  She has testified on behalf of juveniles and parents before the Pennsylvania Governor’s Commission on Juvenile Justice and her story has been featured in People magazine, The New York Times and CNN.  She enjoys gardening, hiking local trails with her dog, “Buddy” and spending time with her family.  Laurene joined the Aventa team as an Instructional Supervisor in September of 2007.  She views online education as an alternative form of education that reaches out to all students, but especially those whose needs are not always met by the traditional school environment.  She is proud of the teachers in her department and respectfully admires the dedication and devotion they have for their students, as they provide them with rigorous and high quality instruction.

A.J. graduated from Oregon State University with a BS in History. After several years working in the journalism field, he attended Eastern Oregon University where he attained a Master’s Degree in Teacher Education. He is the Technology & Electives Instructional Supervisor at Aventa Learning.  He enjoys being outdoors, spending time with his family, athletics, and learning new things. A.J. joined the Aventa team full-time after several years as a part-time instructor. He enjoys working with so many great teachers while transforming how education is delivered.

Malini graduated from Loughborough University of Technology with a BSc. in Mathematics, and a diploma in middle and high school education.  She joined Aventa in August, as a Math instructor, and is now working full time.  She enjoys reading books, cross stitch, and above all else, spending time with her family.

Malini was born and brought up in Africa, and then moved to England for ten years.  She is now settled in Washington.

Our democracy, and economy will only succeed if our citizens are educated is my motto.

Jennifer graduated from Western Michigan University with a BS in Mathematics and Biology Education.  She received her MA in Administration and Supervision from The College of Notre Dame of Maryland.  She has been a teacher at Aventa for the past two years and is also a lead mentor teacher for the Mathematics Department.  Jennifer’s passion is working with her students and helping them find success in mathematics.  She also loves spending time with her family, traveling, baking, and reading.

Grant graduated from Miami University in Oxford, OH with a BS in Integrated Mathematics Education 7-12. He taught high school Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 in the suburbs of Cincinnati for five years before making the transition to the online world. The main thing that Grant loves about teaching online is the mental commitment of students every time they login to the critical thinking, 21st century curriculum. He also loves that each student can progress through the material at his/her own pace. What a system!

I love to travel and someday hope to see all the major historical sites around the world. This is my fifth year of teaching online. I have two degrees including a master’s degree in Education. I have taught Government, American and World History at Florence High School and I have been a substitute teacher for many years.
