A teacher who had more than 20 years of experience told the board that she started teaching for the online program and was very skeptical, but she finished the program thinking that every student should have this opportunity.
Student Learning Needs and Styles
Our instructional design model also meet the unique learning needs and styles of each student. Aventa courses incorporate the most current instructional practices that educational researchers have determined are most effective in motivating students, teaching key concepts and developing important skills.
Learning Needs
Research by Alan Cohen demonstrated that one of the primary reasons that students fail assessments is that the instruction was too different from the assessment-students were taught one thing and tested on another. Aventa's instruction is carefully designed to prepare students for the skills they need to demonstrate on their assessments. For example, if a student needs to make and support conclusions in an assessment, the instructional activities should not be focused on memorizing factual content but instead provide opportunities to make and support decisions.
Learning Styles
Students learn better when instruction best meets their learning style. Aventa designs learning experiences using a blend of a visual-auditory-kinesthetic (VAK) model, Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligences Theory and other prominent models.
Our course designers strive to make learning relevant. For example, students looking at ancient cultures may be asked to compare practices that are parallel with situations in the modern world. Today's students also expert technology to aid in their learning, so online courses have become increasingly relevant in their lives.
